Flat Feet (Pes Planus)
Picture

"Fallen Arches"

Commonly explained as fallen arches, these types of feet tend to have a flat, wide appearance.
Often feet like these are not painful, but due to the stress put on the inside arch area, problems may occur with overuse or prolonged standing.

Pes Planus: Flat Feet

Pes Planus may be the term used to describe flat feet on an assessment or prescription. It's important to know "flat feet" is not a diagnosis but rather a description of the appearance.
Common diagnoses associated with flat feet are:
- Plantar Fasciitis / Heel Pain
- Shin Splints
- Knee Pain
(Eg. Muscle strain or bursitis)
 - Callus

Providing Support with Orthotics

A common way to relieve stress from the arch area is to support and maintain the natural arch of your foot.

This is an example of the benefits custom orthotics have versus over the counter (OTC) insoles.
